Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine technique that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body to promote healing and well-being. Acupuncture aims to alleviate pain, reduce stress, and enhance overall health by balancing the body's energy. Each session is tailored to address individual health concerns, providing a holistic and natural approach to wellness. Experience the benefits of acupuncture in a serene and supportive environment.

Herbal Medicine

Chinese and western Herbs are used in conjunction with other therapies to promote health and wellness and reverse pathology. Using traditional remedies combined with supplements backed by clinical research we can craft a plan to achieve health goals.

Cupping

Cupping therapy is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) practice, involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This ancient therapy, which has been used for thousands of years promotes healing and improves the flow of Qi (life force) within the body.  In TCM, health is maintained through the balance and smooth flow of Qi and blood. Cupping is believed to stimulate the flow of Qi and blood, thereby promoting healing and reducing pain. It removes stagnation of Qi and blood which is thought to cause pain and illness. Cupping helps to remove these blockages, allowing for better circulation and alleviating discomfort.

Cupping is commonly used to relieve muscle pain, joint pain, and other forms of discomfort. The suction created by the cups increases blood flow to the treated areas, promoting healing and recovery and activating the immune system. This ancient and versatile therapy can induce a state of relaxation and reduce stress and is sometimes used to treat respiratory conditions like bronchitis and asthma. Many find cupping to be a beneficial complement to their health and wellness routine.

                  Types of Cupping

  1. Dry Cupping: This involves placing the cups on the skin without any additional substances.
  2. Wet Cupping: Also known as "bleeding cupping," this method involves making small incisions on the skin before applying the cups to draw out a small amount of blood.
  3. Fire Cupping: In this traditional technique, a cotton ball soaked in alcohol is ignited and placed inside the cup. The heat creates a vacuum as the flame goes out, and the cup is then quickly placed on the skin.
  4. Massage Cupping: Oil is applied to the skin before placing the cups, allowing them to be moved around to massage the underlying tissues.

Soft Tissue/Fascial Manipulation + Massage + Gua Sha

Using a combination of Shiatsu, Tui Na, and Traditional Mesoamerican massage Dr. Chimento will assess the needs of each body and focus on areas of pain and tension to release fascia and ease sore and tight muscles. Rooted in ancient traditions and designed to promote holistic well-being. These therapeutic massage techniques align with our commitment to natural, integrative healthcare, providing effective relief from pain, stress, and various health conditions.

Shiatsu, meaning "finger pressure" in Japanese, is a therapeutic form of bodywork that involves applying pressure to specific points on the body. This technique is based on the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and Japanese massage, focusing on the meridian lines (energy pathways) to balance the body's energy (Qi).

Benefits of Shiatsu

  • Pain Relief: Alleviates chronic pain, headaches, and muscle tension.
  • Stress Reduction: Promotes relaxation and reduces stress levels.
  • Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues.
  • Enhanced Immune Function: Boosts the body's natural defense mechanisms.
  • Better Sleep: Helps improve sleep quality and address insomnia.

Tui Na, meaning "push and grasp" in Chinese, is one of the oldest forms of bodywork, integral to traditional Chinese medicine. It combines acupressure, massage, and manipulation techniques to treat musculoskeletal issues, improve circulation, and balance the body's energy.

Both Shiatsu and Tui Na can be seamlessly integrated with acupuncture treatments to enhance therapeutic outcomes. While acupuncture focuses on balancing Qi through needle insertion at specific points, Shiatsu and Tui Na provide hands-on techniques to further stimulate these points, enhance circulation, and support the body's natural healing processes.

Gua Sha: Ancient Healing for Modern Wellness

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) technique that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to enhance circulation, reduce inflammation, and promote healing. This ancient practice has been used for centuries to address a variety of health issues and is a wonderful complement to acupuncture treatments. At our clinic, we integrate Gua Sha with our holistic approach to wellness, providing you with effective, natural relief.

Benefits of Gua Sha

  1. Pain Relief: Effectively reduces chronic pain, muscle soreness, and tension.
  2. Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow and promotes the removal of toxins.
  3. Reduced Inflammation: Helps alleviate symptoms of inflammatory conditions.
  4. Boosted Immunity: Stimulates the immune system to improve overall health.
  5. Stress Relief: Provides deep relaxation and reduces stress levels.
  6. Respiratory Health: Beneficial for treating colds, flu, and other respiratory issues.

Gua Sha in Acupuncture Treatment

Gua Sha is often used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance the therapeutic effects. While acupuncture works on balancing the body’s energy (Qi) by stimulating specific points, Gua Sha complements this by improving blood flow and releasing stagnation. This combined approach can accelerate healing, provide quicker relief from pain, and improve overall health outcomes.

Red Light Therapy: Harnessing the Power of Light for Healing

Red Light Therapy (RLT) is an innovative treatment that uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to promote healing and rejuvenation at the cellular level. This non-invasive therapy is widely recognized for its ability to enhance cellular function, reduce inflammation, and accelerate tissue repair, making it an excellent complement to traditional acupuncture practices.

How Red Light Therapy Works

Red Light Therapy works by delivering concentrated wavelengths of natural light to your skin and cells. The red and near-infrared light penetrate the skin and are absorbed by the mitochondria, the energy powerhouses of the cells. This absorption increases the production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of the cell, which in turn boosts cellular function, repair, and regeneration.

Benefits of Red Light Therapy

  1. Pain Relief: Reduces inflammation and pain in muscles and joints.
  2. Enhanced Healing: Accelerates wound healing and tissue repair.
  3. Skin Health: Improves skin tone, reduces wrinkles, and treats conditions like acne and eczema.
  4. Improved Circulation: Enhances blood flow, promoting faster recovery.
  5. Reduced Inflammation: Lowers inflammation throughout the body, aiding in overall health improvement.
  6. Mood and Energy Boost: Increases energy levels and improves mood by regulating circadian rhythms and enhancing cellular function.

Integration with Acupuncture

Combining Red Light Therapy with acupuncture can amplify the healing effects of both treatments. While acupuncture works to balance the body’s energy flow (Qi) and address specific health concerns, Red Light Therapy supports cellular health and accelerates the body’s natural healing processes. Together, these therapies provide a holistic approach to wellness and recovery.
